EMILY J.T. PEREZ FOUNDATION LAUNCHES ITS DC RESILIENCE BOOTCAMP AT ACCENTURE DCThe foundation aims to provide 100 women veterans with wellness and mental health resources
Waldorf, MD – The Emily J.T. Perez Foundation, a Maryland-based non-profit organization, is launching the first of a series of resilience boot camps aimed at improving mental health and wellness outcomes for hundreds of women veterans throughout the nation. The foundation will host its Washington, DC boot camp on March 1, 2024, at the Accenture Washington, DC office.Â
Approximately 200,000 women transition from active duty to veteran status each year in the U.S. and women veterans are at greater risk for PTSD and depression than their male veteran counterparts. Women veterans are nearly twice as likely as civilian women to develop PTSD (30% vs 16%). The resilience boot camps are uniquely positioned to address the emotional, physical, and mental challenges resulting from post-traumatic stress and are focused on helping women veterans develop the skills needed to lead successful and fulfilling personal and professional lives.Â
About Emily J.T. Perez Foundation:Emily J.T. Perez Foundation is dedicated to empowering and uplifting young women and women veterans, facilitating their journey toward realizing their utmost potential. Our efforts are channeled through the programmatic initiative known as Emily's Way, encompassing the Women Veterans Program, Resilience Bootcamp, and the Summer Camp Program for young women. Visit emilysway.org.com for further information.
